ENGLISH DEPARTMENT
We are immersed in a bilingual environment and the department’s purpose is to promote the English as a second language program based on a humanistic view that helps our English language learners to develop their critical thinking and their proficiency in communicative skills in the foreign language. Understanding the English language as a great opportunity to know and comprehend different types of cultures around the world.
ENGLISH IMMERSION PHASES
PRE-SCHOOL
Our students from Pre-K, kinder and transition levels use the second language as an interactive tool generating knowledge through dynamic classes and taking advantage of their listening skills.
As it is well known, the first five years of life are very important in brain and structural development. Therefore in our school, the kids have the opportunity to be involved in a discovery environment full of amazing experiences.
ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL
Our levels in elementary school are from 1st to 5th grade and in middle or junior school are from 6th to 8th grade. Those educational levels aim to develop basic interpersonal skills (BICS) where our students use the second language in their everyday life for social interactions and immersion situations in daily English exposure.
The subjects in English as a second language program are social studies, science, grammar, phonics, reading, writing, and oral skills.

HIGH SCHOOL
Our levels in high school are from 9th to 11th grade. Our students in high school are prepared with the strategy known as Cognitive Academic Language Proficiency (CALP). It reflects a formal academic learning that applies in English language learning focusing on specific subjects and formal applications.
The subjects in English as a second language program are history, literature, science, theology English and language.
